Message to compatriots of Iran's national uprising

Hours after the start of the new round of the Iranian national uprising, which began with a strike by Tehran’s bazaar and spread to other regions of Iran, I said in a video message:

"I salute you, bazaar merchants and the people who have taken the streets into your own hands.

As long as this regime remains in power, the country's economic situation will continue to deteriorate.

Today is a time for greater solidarity.

I ask all segments of society to join your compatriots in the streets and cry out for the downfall of this system.

And my special message to the security and law-enforcement forces: this system is collapsing. Do not stand against the people. Join the people.

We will prevail because we are in the right and we are united and of one voice."
