I told 60 Minutes that, in response to the will of the millions of Iranians who call my name inside Iran and abroad, I accept the role of leading the transitional period toward a secular and democratic Iran.
In this conversation I underlined four foundational principles: the territorial integrity of Iran, the complete separation of religion from the state, the equality of all citizens before the law, and a democratic process for the Iranian people to determine the future system of government.
